My name is Jayne Nelsen. My daughter, Lily, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in late September of 2009.
Right after Lily was diagnosed, we began our journey of searching for anything we could find on healing Type 1 Diabetes...99% of what we found offered no hope beyond insulin.
After talking with our doctor and fiding some blogs (listed below), we decided to take a leap of faith and see how drastically changing our diet (the whole family) would help our daughter.
We cleaned up our diet by eliminating processed foods, grains and most dairy (we stick to goat cheese for the most part).
Thus began our healing journey. Not only healing our child, but our entire family.
The result? Lily was insulin free for a year and is now on very low doses of insulin.
We found a doctor that is encouraging Lily to stay on track, and trying to find the core issues that may have contributed to her diagnosis.
This is not about a cure, though I, like others who deal with diabetes, pray for a cure continually. This is about our personal journey.
We are here to share our story and all the ups and downs that come along with the diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes.
I encourage everyone to please read my disclaimer before you jump to conclusions
